Caution urge in the Junction

Motorists using the main road between Georgia and Broad Gate in St. Mary are being advised to be on the look out for falling rocks and landslides.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency. Stephen Shaw says persistent rainfall over the last month has resulted in rocks becoming loose and falling on to the roadway.

He says a major landslide is now in the Broad Gate community, which has reduced the roadway to single lane access. Mr. Shaw says it will take some time for the NWA to have this section of the roadway fully reopened, as the area is very unstable.

He says minor landslippages have also been occurring in other areas, including around corners, making the roadway potentially hazardous for motorists.

Mr. Shaw says the NWA has equipment on standby in the area and continues to monitor the situation.
