The National Works Agency has commenced rehabilitative work on the main road from Drax Hall, through Steer Town, Chalky Hill and Golden Grove in St. Ann. The roadway is the main route for Truckers heading to and from the north-coast, as they are not allowed to use the Fern Gully main road.

Manager of Communications and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw says work on the roadway started this week and is expected to be completed in two months.

He says the work involves the removal of old asphalt and the repaving of 17 kilometer stretch of roadway with Asphaltic Concrete.

Motorists, especially of large units are being advised to expect delays along the route, as a result of the work. Operators of small vehicles heading to and from the north coast can use the alternative routes through Fern Gully or Lime Hall.
