The National Works Agency is advising motorists that effective tomorrow, the Summerfield Bridge along the roadway from Danks to Mairs Bridge in Clarendon will be reduced to single lane access.

Access is being reduced to motorists for the next five days, in order to carry-out emergency work to the structure.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency Stephen Shaw says recent flood rains have resulted in significant scouring of the base of one of the two abutments.

He says that some of the filling material, used in the creation of the approach road has also been washed out.

Mr. Shaw says starting tomorrow, work will get underway to underpin the exposed abutment. The approach road will also be reconstructed as part of the works, which will be undertaken by the NWA.

The NWA is advising motorists to exercise caution in the vicinity of the work site, obey the posted warning signs and the instructions of the flag persons.
