The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising the motoring public that the eastbound lane along Spanish Town Road will be closed between Weymouth Drive and Carifta Avenue for three days starting midnight tonight (Friday, February 3) to facilitate repairs to a ruptured sewer line in the vicinity of the Sandy Gully Bridge.

According to Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, the National Water Commission will be carrying out the repair works.

He says this involves the excavation of the area, the replacement of the broken sewer line with a new main and backfilling to allow for the smooth flow of traffic after the works are complete.

He says the road will be re-opened to vehicular traffic on Monday, February 26 at 5 a.m. following which the affected section will be fully reinstated and paved with asphaltic concrete.

During the period of works motorists may use Washington Boulevard to access Molynes Road or Constant Spring Road depending on their final destination.

Appropriate warning signs will be placed on approach of the Bridge to alert motorists of the works being done.
