The National Works Agency will tomorrow resume rehabilitation work along Marcus Garvey Drive in Kingston. Sections of the corridor have badly deteriorated, due to persistent rainfall over the past six weeks.

The NWA started work on the stretch three weeks ago, however this was temporarily suspended.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw says work will resume along the roadway, with particular emphasis on the section from East Avenue, leading to Pechon Street.

He says works to be done include the removal of old asphalt, laying of new base material and repaving. This is slated to be completed within 10 days.

Mr. Shaw says the National Road Operating and Construction Company (NROCC) is slated to commence major rehabilitation work shortly, on the section of Marcus Garvey Drive, between Ninth Avenue and East Avenue.

In the meantime, Mr. Shaw says work will get underway this weekend on the roadway between Papine and Mud Town, along the Gordon Town main road in St. Andrew.

He explains that badly deteriorated sections of the pavement along this corridor will be removed, base material added and the roadway repaved. The work is expected to get underway at mid-night on Saturday in the Papine Square and is part of the NWA’s 80 million dollar road programme being implemented in the Corporate area and St. Catherine.
