The National Works Agency (NWA) will next week commence a new multi-million dollar Hot Mix patching programme across the island. The programme valued at $80 million dollars, is being funded through the 2016/2017 budget, and will target roadways across twelve parishes.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, says that this programme follows a similar one that was rolled out within the Corporate Area in April. Under the Corporate area programme some 30,000 square metres of roadway in Kingston and St. Andrew is being targeted at a cost of 85 million dollars. Appproximately 70% of the targeted areas have already being patched.

Mr. Shaw says that a final listing of roadways to be patched across the remaining 12 parishes is now being prepared and will be finalized by this Friday. The programme is expected to be completed within eight weeks.

The programme will be undertaken by the National Works Agency’s Force Account Teams. Motorists are being advised to obey posted warning signs and the instruction of flag persons.
