No access to May Pen via Trenton Road/Paisley Avenue for the next five days

The Trenton Road/Paisley Avenue intersection in May Pen, Clarendon will remain closed for another five days as the National Water Commission (NWC) continues exploratory work to locate its underground infrastructure.

Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency (NWA), Stephen Shaw explains that access to the town from the intersection was originally restricted for three days starting Wednesday, December 12.  However the planned water supply improvement works were not completed within the specified time as the NWC could not identify its existing pipeline.

Mr. Shaw says this has necessitated the extension of the access restriction from tomorrow, Saturday, December 14 to Wednesday, December 19. For the next five days, motorists will have to use alternative routes when entering or leaving the town of May Pen.

Motorists may travel via the Bustamante Highway, Glenmuir Road and Anderson Drive when entering the town. The reverse obtains when leaving the town. Hazard Drive and Trenton Road may be used to get on to the Bustamante Highway when travelling from Palmers Cross or Chateau.

The pipe replacement works will be undertaken between 8:00 a.m. and 5 p.m. on the specified days. These works will significantly advance the $98.4 million Palmers Cross – Main Street Major Infrastructure Development (MIDP) project.
