The National Works Agency (NWA) is now in the final stages of completion of the works to rehabilitate sections of the Blackgate main road in Hanover. The community is located along the Welcome to Copse road section.

Community Relations Officer for the National Works Agency, Janel Ricketts, says that the project is valued at five point five (5.5) million dollars and involves the rehabilitation of 2 km of roadway using Double Surface Dressing and the construction of additional drainage features.

Ms Ricketts says that the project which began late last year is approximately 80 percent complete and is scheduled to be completed by April 2008. She says that sections of the roadway have already been asphalted. The contractors will now be focusing their efforts on completing the remainder of the asphalting works and constructing kerb and channels to improve the drainage in the area.

In the meantime, work continues on the Dias to Blenheim road section in the parish. The Project which is valued at two million dollars involves bushing, drain cleaning and the rehabilitation of sections of the roadway using Double Surface Dressing.

These projects are aimed at augmenting the Patching activities which took place recently in the parish and forms part of the Agency’s ongoing effort to improve the driving conditions along the island’s main road network.
