Road Closure Notice for Charlton Fording

The National Works Agency (NWA) is announcing that effective Thursday, August 24, 2017, commencing at 10:00 am; the Charlton Avenue in the vicinity of the Charlton Gully in St Andrew will be closed. This closure will be in effect until Tuesday, August 29, 2017 and will facilitate the rehabilitation of the roadway.

Acting Communication and Customer Services Manager at the NWA, Janel Ricketts, says that the project entails the excavation of the road surface and resurfacing using Concrete.

Ms Ricketts says that during the period of closure, commuters travelling from the direction of Constant Spring, towards Charlton Avenue, may travel via Grants Pen roadway, onto Shortwood Road and then turn left onto Charlton Avenue. The reverse obtains for commuters travelling in the opposite direction.

The works will be undertaken by Cemex, through funding made available by the Caribbean Cement Company Limited

Motorists are being advised to obey the posted warning signs and instructions of flag persons. Personnel from the Jamaica Constabulary Force will also be on hand to assist with traffic management.
