Road Closure Notice for Mt. Blessed, Westmoreland

The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that effective Tuesday January 21, a section of the the Mt. Blessed Parish Council roadway located in Eastern Westmoreland  will be closed to vehicular traffic. This roadway will remain closed until Monday January 27, 2014 . The roadway is being closed to facilitate necessary road improvement works.

The Mount Blessed Parish Council roadway is located off the Withorn to Darlistion control section, and is used by the members of the community to access residences located along the stretch of roadway.

Community Relations Officer at the NWA’s Western Region, Janel Ricketts, says that the roadway, which is heavily rutted in sections, will be rehabilitated using ‘quick-hardening’ concrete. This type of concrete accelerates the curing process allowing for a more timely reopening of the roadway. She added that the roadway will remain closed for a total of seven days to allow for the curing of the concrete application.

Ms. Ricketts says that the roadway is being completed at a cost of $1.5 million dollars and is being executed by one of the NWA’s Force Account Teams.

Residents are being advised to obey the posted warning signs and instructions of flag persons.
