The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising the public that a section of Spanish Town Road, between Charles Street and Bread Lane, in the vicinity of Miles’ Enterprise, will be closed this Sunday (December 23) to facilitate the removal and replacement of a damaged culvert. The works will be carried out between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services, Stephen Shaw, explains that a broken asbestos drainage pipe at the location is causing ponding at the side of the roadway. He says this will be removed and replaced with two HDPE pipe culverts. A manhole will also be replaced as part of the works.

During the closure, motorists travelling from Downtown Kingston towards Three Miles will be diverted onto an existing slip road adjacent to Spanish Town Road. Motorists travelling towards Downtown may use either Industrial Terrace onto Marcus Garvey Drive or North Street onto Regent Street, continuing back onto Spanish Town Road.

Motorists are being advised to exercise caution while travelling and obey the instructions of flag persons.
