Several corridors in St. Ann are now benefitting from a multimillion dollar patching and drain cleaning programme. The project, valued at $48.2 million, forms part of the National Work Agency’s island wide routine maintenance efforts, that was rolled out in mid –March. The project is scheduled to be completed in May.

Under the programme, some sixteen roadways across the parish are being patched while critical drains in the Ocho Rios and Endeavour districts are being cleaned. Roadways that have already benefitted under the programme include Alexandria to Grenock Bridge, Moneague through Walkerswood to Swansea, Harmony Vale to Pedro, Runaway Bay to Browns Town and roadways within the townships of Ocho Rios and St. Ann’s Bay.

The NWA also targeted critical drains as part of the programme especially in light of the impending rainy season. Drains that were cleaned include a box culvert and earth drain in Ocho Rios and side drains, earth drains and outlets along the Caledonia to Stewart Town corridor.
