In a bid to advance critical drainage improvement works under the Constant Spring Road Improvement Project, the National Works Agency (NWA) will be restricting access along sections of Eastwood Park and Constant Spring Roads for set periods this weekend.

According to Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, the works which will be largely undertaken during night time hours on Saturday and Sunday, have been so scheduled such that there is minimal disruption to the flow of traffic along either corridor during busy peak hour traffic.

Mr. Shaw explains that Eastwood Park Road will be closed between the Red Hills Road and Constant Spring Road intersections from 8:00 p.m. Saturday, August 25 to 6:00 a.m. Sunday, August 26 so that storm water drains can be laid across the section of Eastwood Park Road just outside the main offices of the Ministry of Justice.

He says when work is completed at Eastwood Park the focus will then shift to the Constant Spring Road/West Kings House Road intersection where similar works will be done across Constant Spring Road just outside the Madden’s Funeral Home. These works should be completed by 4:00 a.m. on Monday, August 27.

The NWA has identified suitable detour routes along which traffic will be directed during the period of works. Motorists travelling along Eastwood Park Road toward Constant Spring Road may turn left on to Red Hills Road, then right on to Dunrobin Avenue to exit on Constant Spring Road.

Motorists travelling along Constant Spring Road towards Half-Way-Tree may turn left on to West Kings House Road, right on to Waterloo Road and then right on to South Avenue to exit on Constant Spring Road at 7TH Avenue Plaza.

The necessary road signs will be placed along the detour route to direct motorists, who are being reminded to obey the posted instructions.

The NWA is reminding the motoring public that as the infrastructural works on the Constant Spring Road Improvement Project continue over the next few months, traffic changes will be implemented from time to time to facilitate the progress of the works. The Agency is therefore urging the motoring public to monitor the media for updates and apologizes for any inconvenience caused.
