The National Works Agency has dispatched several crews across the parish of St. Thomas to clear roads blocked by landslips, caused by flood rains over the last two days.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency Stephen Shaw says the Wheelersfield to Cedar Grove main road is blocked and crews are now working to have it reopened to single lane access. He says major scouring occurred along the Bath to Hordley main road, where reinstatement works are underway. Mr. Shaw says the Bowden to Bowden Wharf main road in the vicinity of Old Pera is also blocked and crews are working to reopen the roadway to single lane.

The Yallahs Fording at Poorman’s Corner is also badly scoured and motorists who use this roadway should do so with caution, while the Serge Island Loop road which was also scoured is to be reinstated.
Mr. Shaw says the NWA is working to have all roads fully reopened by this weekend.
