Works on Chesterfield Drive, St. Andrew may result in delays on Easter weekend

The National Works Agency (NWA) is alerting motorists that they may encounter delays along Chesterfield Drive, in St. Andrew this weekend as a result of works planned for sections of the roadway between Friday, April 19 and Monday, April 22.

NWA Communication and Customer Services Manager, Stephen Shaw, says repairs will be carried out on sections of the road pavement, closer to the Spanish Town Road intersection. He explains that the increased use of the roadway, particularly by large vehicles, has resulted in shoving of the asphalt in a few locations.

Such defects, he says, have to be corrected while the project is still in the defects liability period. The NWA will only officially take over the roadway when all such issues are satisfactorily addressed.

The extended 2.2 kilometer-long Chesterfield Drive has served as a detour to the Three Miles interchange since through traffic was restricted to facilitate the upgrade of the major intersection. Mostly truckers use the roadway, which was officially opened to vehicular traffic in December 2018.
