The National Works Agency (NWA) is currently constructing a gabion retaining wall in Victoria Clarendon. The works resulted from a breakaway that occurred along the Thompson Town to Victoria main road due to heavy rains in 2020. The project which commenced on Monday February 14 is scheduled to be completed in two months.   The scope of works for this project includes the construction of bigger gabion retaining wall to replace the collapsed one, along with the installation of a french drain, cross drains and other improvements to the current drainage system. A parapet wall will be constructed for vehicular and pedestrian safety. The project will be completed at a cost of over $19 million dollars.   The repairs will reduce the roadway to single lane traffic. The NWA is also advising motorists to obey all posted warning and directional signs as well as the instructions of flag persons.
