Starting today Wednesday, December 17, 2014, the National Works Agency (NWA) will embark on the first phase of an emergency pot hole patching programme along selected main roads and bus routes in the corporate area.
The duration of the programme is three (3) weeks, however phase one of this two phase programme will begin today and end on Friday, December 19, 2014. This is being done to facilitate the increased number of vehicles on the roadways during the holiday period.
Approximately 3, 500 square metres of Hot Mix patching will be carried out along twenty three (23) corridors. Twelve corridors will be addressed during phase one. They are Constant Spring Road, Molynes Road, Eastwood Park Road, Red Hills Road, Hagley Park Road, Maxfield Avenue, Mona Road and Hermitage Road. Hill View Terrace, White Hall Avenue, Old Hope Road and Duhaney Drive which are popular bus routes will also be addressed.
The NWA is cautioning motorists who traverse these corridors that they should expect lengthy delays while patching is in progress. Patching is being carried out in-house by one of the Agency’s Force Account Teams. The cost is $10 million.
Motorists are advised to obey posted warning signs and the instructions of flag persons during these emergency works.
