Emergency repair works to the West Prospect Bridge, North Central, St. Catherine, will commence on Monday, February 09, 2015.
The repairs are scheduled to be completed in one week, by February 16, 2015.
The West Prospect Bridge is located along the West Prospect Parochial Road and was damaged during the Flood rains of November/December 2014.
The repair works will be undertaken in two phases. Phase one involves reinstatement of the bridge valued at $4 million funded through the Capital A budget. When this is complete, phase two will follow, which involves protective works.
Due to the type of repair works and the danger this may pose to pedestrians, the National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that pedestrians will be prevented from using the pathway in the vicinity of the bridge during the repairs.
Pedestrians are asked to use the designated alternative routes.
The NWA is also advising motorists to obey all posted warning and directional signs as well as the instructions of flag persons.
