The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists and pedestrians that the Grants Pen Ford, located in St. Andrew, connecting Constant Spring Road to Shortwood Road will be reopened to vehicular traffic at 5:00 p.m. today, two weeks ahead of the scheduled reopening.

The Ford was closed on Monday September 29, 2014 and scheduled to be closed for a period of three weeks to repair the approach roads. Eighty metres of roadway was completed using concrete.

Rehabilitation of the Ford falls under the Agency’s Routine Maintenance Programme through the allocation of funds by the Road Maintenance Fund (RMF). The project was undertaken by Omara Paving and Construction Limited for an amount of $5.4 million.

The Charlton Ford also located in St. Andrew, was completed last week, ahead of schedule and traffic placed on it.

NWA CEO, E.G. Hunter says the completion of both projects is in keeping with the new thrust by the Agency to complete projects ahead of schedule and within budget.
