The fourth phase of the Jamaica Emergency Employment Programme (JEEP) is now underway in the Western parishes of Westmoreland, Hanover, Trelawny and St. James.
Community Relations Officer at the National Works Agency (NWA), Janel Ricketts says that twenty six road sections are being targeted under this programme. The programme involves the bushing of verges, drain cleaning, drainage improvement and the rehabilitation of roadways.
Among the roadways which are now receiving attention are sections of the Ferris to Georges Plain roadway in Central Westmorland; the Mt. Peto roadway in Eastern Hanover; the Friendship to Bunker’s Hill roadway in North Trelawny and the Ramble Hill roadway in West Central St. James.
The projects are being undertaken at a cost of approximately one hundred and twenty million dollars .The JEEP forms part of the government’s multi-billion dollar Major Infrastructure Development Programme (MIDP), which is geared at the rehabilitation of selected roadways across the island.
