The Green Town corridor, in Trelawny, is receiving a major upgrade through a $10 million road improvement project, currently being undertaken by the National Works Agency (NWA).
Green Town is a small, rural, farming community located off the Wait-A-Bit to Hector’s River Bridge control section in Southern Trelawny. The roadway is used to access residential properties as well as farms located along the stretch. Additionally, this corridor is a main arterial link to the neighbouring parish of Manchester, through the community of Pike.
Community Relations Officer at the NWA’s Western Region, Janel Ricketts, says that the project involves the complete rehabilitation of approximately 3,500 square metres of the roadway to include drainage improvement, and the reshaping and overlay of the road surface using Double Surface Dressing. Additionally, the project involves the patching of sections of the roadway.
Ms Ricketts says that the project, which is being executed by local contractor MAE Construction, is expected to be completed by May 2017.
Motorists are being advised to obey the posted warning signs and instructions of flag persons.
