Effective tomorrow, Thursday, December 15, 2022, a new set of traffic signals will be in operation along East Street in Old Harbour, St. Catherine. The new signals were installed at the Goulbourne Lane / East Street/ Marlie Acres intersection as part of traffic flow modifications that will also go into effect.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw says that the traffic changes are being implemented as part of a larger plan that is geared towards reducing congestion in the town of Old Harbour. The modifications will see the conversion of Lafe Street, Goulbourne Lane and a section of Walkers Road, in the township, to one way traffic movement.

He says that Lafe Street will be converted to one way movement away from East Street, continuing along Walkers Road and one way along Goulbourne Lane back towards East Street. Two way traffic movement will be maintained along Walkers Road beyond its intersection with Goulbourne Lane back to South Street.

Mr. Shaw says that as part of the changes, a section of East Street was widened to accommodate two right turning lanes onto Lafe Street and Marlie Acres, road marking was done and directional signs installed.
