The National Works Agency (NWA) is ramping up its effort to repair roadways across the parish of St. James, through the Relief Emergency Assistance and Community Help (REACH) programme. Consequently, commuters may experience some delays over the course of the next seven days, as several roadways are targeted for improvement.
Community Relations Officer at the NWA’s Western Region, Janel Ricketts, says that starting on Sunday, March 24, 2025, work will be undertaken along the Long Hill and Queens Drive corridors. She added that, during the course of the week, work is also expected to be completed on the Montego Bay to Great River main road.
Ms. Ricketts says that to date several roadways have been repaired under the REACH; a robust patching programme, aimed at improving roadways which were damaged during the passage of Hurricane Beryl and subsequent rainfalls. The programme targets the worst affected sections of the targeted roadways. Among the roadways which have been improved are the stretch from Reading to Anchovy; the Somerton main road and roadways in and around the city centre.
Motorists are being advised to obey the posted warning signs and instructions of flag persons.
