The Millbank to Bowden Pen roadway in Eastern Portland has been closed, with immediate effect, to motorists and pedestrians.
Natalee Bloomfield, Community Relations Officer for the Northeast Region says that closure of the roadway resulted from the collapse of the Matthews River Bridge.
Ms. Bloomfield says there is no alternate route.
The bridge collapsed due to persistent rain in the parish over several days which rendered several roadways impassable.
The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists and pedestrians to be extremely cautious when using the roadway.
