The National Works Agency is now in the final stages of work valued at $75 million on six road sections in north western Clarendon.
The road sections being repaired are Christina to Moravia, Smithville to Wakefield, Tweedside to Fearon, Coffee Piece to Jericho and Quarry and Morris Hill Road. The repairs include removal of bush and cutting of overhang from trees, cleaning of outlets, construction of Gabion walls, drains and surfacing of the roadways using Double Surface Dressing.
Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency, Stephen Shaw says the repairs which started in the last quarter of 2006 and should be completed by the end of March.
The projects are being undertaken by the NWA’s Force Account Teams and fall under the Agency’s Special Flood Damage programme. Over three billion dollars is being spent by the NWA through the programme to rehabilitate roads, clean drains, construct retaining walls and to carry out river training works.
