The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists that it has suspended patching works that were scheduled to get underway along the west bound lane of the Mandela Highway at 9:00 o’clock this morning.
Suspension of works is due to flooding along the east bound lane of the roadway between Ferry and Six Miles caused by an NWC broken main. This resulted in the back up of traffic between Three Miles and Central Village in St. Catherine.
Motorists travelling into Kingston have been diverted onto the west bound lane of Mandela Highway between Ferry and Six Miles.
Manager Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency Stephen Shaw says flooding of the roadway resulted in pavement damage which also contributed to the traffic delays.
Mr. Shaw says that the NWA will effect emergency repairs as soon as the broken main is fixed and begin patching along the roadway.
