The National Works Agency (NWA) will this Sunday, October 25, close a section of the Mandela Highway in St. Andrew. The section to be closed is located along the eastbound carriageway (heading towards Kingston from the direction of Spanish Town).

Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw says that the road will be closed between the Hydel Group of Schools and the Six Miles Overpass Bridge. This is to facilitate the continuation of patching works being carried out along the very busy corridor.

Mr. Shaw says that the stretch of road will be closed between the hours of 7:00 am and 4:00 pm. The closure will result in the section of the westbound carriageway between Hydel and the Six Miles Bridge being converted to a two-way road to accommodate traffic heading in both directions.

Motorists heading from the direction of Linstead and who are destined for Kingston are being reminded that the route from Bog Walk to Sligoville, through Rock Hall and Reds Hills is a suitable alternative.

Persons using the Mandela Highway during the period of the works are being advised to proceed with caution and obey the instructions of the police and flag persons.
