The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists that in light of the expected increased rainfall over the next 12 to 48 hours, Marcus Garvey Drive in St. Andrew should be avoided. The road is not being closed as it allows access to Newport East and Newport West, but the liklihood of flooding along sections of the corridor could pose risks to motorists. There are a number of open trenches along the road and barriers could be dislodged during the inclement weather.

Motorists are therefore being advised to where possible, use suitable alternatives to Marcus Garvey Drive during this period.
