HOPE Up and Running in the Western Region

The Government of Jamaica’s Housing Opportunity Prosperity Employment Programme (HOPE) is now underway in the Western parishes of Westmoreland, Hanover, Trelawny and St. James.

Community Relations Officer at the National Works Agency (NWA), Janel Ricketts says that twenty four road sections are being targeted. The programme involves the bushing of verges, drain cleaning, drainage improvement and the rehabilitation of roadways.

 Among the roadways which are now receiving attention are the Retreat corridor in Westmorland; Solas Lane in Hanover; the Allsides to Dry Land corridor in Trelawny; and the Mason Road in St. James.

These projects are being undertaken at a cost of approximately one hundred and twenty million dollars .The HOPE replaces the Jamaica Emergency Employment Programme (JEEP).
