The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that effective today, Sunday, August 13, 2017, the Mona and Wellington Drive intersection will be reduced to single lane traffic.
This change is temporary and will facilitate the laying of sewer pipes by the National Water Comission (NWC) and forms part of activities associated with the Mona Road Rehabilitation Project which is currently being undertaken by the NWA.
Acting Communication and Customer Services Manager at the NWA, Janel Ricketts, says motorists travelling towards Mona Road from Wellington Drive, may travel via Ottawa Avenue, and then on to Mona Road.
Ms. Rickets says the roadway is being rehabilitated at a cost of approximately $76 Million under the Major Infrastructure Development Programme.
The project involves extensive drainage improvement, the installation of sidewalks, the creation of an exclusive turning lane from Mona Road unto Aralia Avenue, and the asphaltic concrete overlay of the affected sections of the corridor. This project is expected to be completed by the end of September 2017.
Motorists are being advised to obey the posted warning signs and the instructions of flag persons.
