The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists who plan to travel along Barbican Road on Wednesday, February 28, that the roadway will not be accessible from Birdsucker Lane.
It will be closed at the junction with Barbican Road at 10 on Wednesday morning to facilitate base works in preparation for paving.
Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, says the work is being carried out along with several other activities along the corridor in order to significantly advance the progress of works associated with the Barbican Road Upgrading Project.
He says the closure is expected to last for 26 hours and access to Barbican Road from Birdsucker Lane should be restored by 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 1.
During the period of closure, motorists should use the alternative route of Graham Heights on to Graham Close, then on to Cherry Drive, Garden View, Carmel Terrace and Carmel Avenue ending on Russel Heights, from where Barbican Road can be accessed.
Motorists are being urged to follow the instructions of the flag persons who will be placed at the intersection of Graham Heights Road and Birdsucker Lane to assist with traffic management.
