Traffic Restrictions for Cumberland Main Road, Portmore, St. Catherine

The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that traffic restrictions will be in effect for two days along the Cumberland Boulevard main road in Portmore, St. Catherine. The road is being rehabilitated under the multi-million dollar Grange Lane Improvement Project.

Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw says that starting on Thursday, May 16, some 150 metres of the road will be impacted. Contractors working on the project will continue the process of laying storm water drainage along the corridor. These works are expected to be completed on Saturday, May 17.

The Grange Lane Project is being implemented at a cost of $925 – million and is expected to be completed in September of this year.

Mr. Shaw says that among the works to be done are the erection of bus bays, sidewalk installation, widening of the road from two to four lanes, laying of new waterlines and installation of traffic signals.

Road users are being advised to exercise caution over the next three days as they navigate the Cumberland Boulevard main road. They are being advised to obey posted warning signs and the instructions of flag-persons.
