LABORATORY TECHNICIAN (Level 4)

Minimum Requirement QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE • Passes in five (5) subjects at Ordinary level/CXC  level   including Mathematics, English Language, Information    Technology  and preferably other technical subject i.e.    Physics, Chemistry or Geography • Certificate in soil/material testing or equivalent  • Specialized training in lab testing techniques • Minimum of (1) year experience in Soil and Material testing SKILLS REQUIREMENT • Ability to work well as part of a team • Competence in computer applications • Flexibility. • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written   forms • Good  Human Relations Skills • Good Analytical Skills REPORTS TO: Senior Soil & Material Technician    SUMMARY OF DUTIES • Perform tests on soil and other engineering material using   required standard test methods • Calibrate all assigned testing equipment assigned, maintain in   good working condition and report defective equipment • Maintain files/reports on assigned jobs including proper   labeling  and  handling of  samples • Prepare graphs and sketches relative to various tests    performed both in the field and laboratory • Conduct various tests on roads under construction • Maintain general cleanliness of the laboratory including   storage and disposal of samples, washing and cleaning of   equipment and accessories etc. • Monitor and maintain adequate supplies of material,    chemicals etc.   Submitted application in writing no later than March 13, 2020 to: Manager, Personnel and Industrial Relations, National Works Agency, 140 Maxfield Avenue, Kingston 10 or email: recruitment@nwa.gov.jm The National Works Agency thanks all applicants in advance for responding.  Only short listed applicants will be contacted.
