The National Works Agency, an Executive Agency of the
Government of Jamaica is seeking suitably qualified individuals
for the under-mentioned position.
Maintenance Engineer (Level 6)
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:-
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Five years experience in a similar post with at least three (3) years in a supervisory position
• Computer literate
SKILL REQUIREMENTS: -
• Sound knowledge of vehicle/equipment performance standards
• Highly developed decision making and problem solving skills
• Highly developed leadership qualities
• Highly developed oral and written communication skills
• Sound knowledge of the Public Sector Procurement Policy
• Sound knowledge of the Road Traffic Regulations
• Sound knowledge of the GOJ Motor Vehicle Policy
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
• Develop and manage systems and procedures which will achieve
i) regular inspection of equipment
ii) routine servicing
iii) preventative maintenance
• Monitor repairs of vehicle/equipment in accordance with
manufacturer’s specifications for efficient and economical service.
• Maintain close liaison with the Repair Supervisors/Inspectors on
required availability
• Maintain records including cost, type and time of service/repairs by
liaising with regional supervisors and Finance and Accounts
Directorate.
• Ensure properly maintained logbooks for all vehicles/equipment.
• Recommend the disposal of unserviceable vehicles and equipment in
accordance with the Motor Vehicle Policy
• Recommendations for training of Service/Repair Personnel.
• Deploy Repair Supervisor/Inspectors as required throughout the
regions.
• Perform any other duties assigned from time to time
