The National Works Agency, an Executive Agency of the
Government of Jamaica is seeking suitably qualified individuals
for the under-mentioned position.
MANAGER, DEVELOPMENT CONTROL & PHYSICAL PLANNING (Level 7)
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Urban/Physical Planning, Geography or
equivalent
• Five to Seven years’ experience in Development Control.
• Minimum of three years in a supervisory capacity
Reporting Relationship
Reports to: Director of Planning & Research
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:.
• Coordinate the work of the Development Control Unit
• Recommend for approval, refusal, modifications and guidelines for
development applications
• Process applications for the erection of private advertising structures,
along public thoroughfare
• Conduct investigation and formulate responses to complaints as required
• Participate in the development of long-term road network plans with
the Network Planning Team
• Represent the Agency Planning/Development committee as assigned
• Review application for modification or discharge of restrictive covenant
• Grant approval for excavation within the road reservation by private
and public entities
• Prepare of Performance Appraisals and recommendations about
required training and development for direct reports
• Communicate the policies, procedures and regulations of the Agency
to direct reports so that staff members remain aware.
• Represent the Agency at meetings, conferences and other functions as
required
• Provide technical advice to the senior management
• Prepare and submit performance and other reports as required
• Ensures the timely submission of all documents/information requested
• Create and maintain the records within your purview in keeping with
the Agency’s Records Management Policy
