The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists that Fernley Avenue, in the vicinity of its intersection with Main Street in May Pen, Clarendon, will be closed to vehicular traffic as of tomorrow, July 19, 2011.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, says the closure will be for a period of three (3) days, commencing at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow. The road will reopen at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2011.

He says this three-day closure of a section of Fernley Avenue is necessary to facilitate the improvement of the drainage system located in that area, and forms part of new 2011/2012 J$360-million Disaster Mitigation Programme, geared at reducing the likelihood  of flooding in critical areas across the island.

Motorists travelling along Main Street in May Pen and wishing to access Fernley Avenue, are being asked to turn onto Gordon Street, then make a left onto Nelson Street, then onto Fernley Avenue. The reverse obtains for motorists wishing to exit Fernley Avenue, onto Main Street.

The National Works Agency is advising motorists to obey the instructions flag persons and posted warning signs, during the period of closure.
