Fern Gully, St. Ann to be Closed Temporarily

The National Works Agency is advising motorists that the Fern Gully main road in St. Ann will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic this weekend. The roadway will be closed on Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22, between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. This closure is to facilitate lane markings along the corridor.

The lane marking represents the final stage of Road Rehabilitation and Drainage works that were conducted within the Fern Gully between 2011 and 2013.

While the closure is in effect motorists travelling towards Ocho Rios from Kingston are asked to use alternate routes as follows: trucks and buses should travel from Moneague to Greenwich Park via Golden Grove and Davis Town, while smaller vehicles can travel from Colegate via Breadnut Hill Road to Harrison Town. The opposite maintains when travelling from Ocho Rios towards Kingston.

Over 600 million dollars have been spent by the government in executing works in the Fern Gully area over the last four years.
