The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists that the Bog Walk Gorge, in St. Catherine has been temporarily closed due to flooding of the roadway. This resulted from heavy rains associated with the outer band of Tropical Storm Isaac.

Motorists should not attempt to use the Bog Walk Gorge at this time as it is unsafe to do so. Instead, they are advised to use the alternative routes through Barry or Sligoville.

The NWA is also advising that the Williamsfield to Glengoffe main road, St. Catherine in the vicinity of Mount Industry is also impassable. There is no alternative route. The Zion Hill Bridge to Free Town main road is also blocked at Bamboo Corner. Teams have been dispatched to both locations to reopen the roadways.

Motorists should proceed with caution along these two roadways as they are heavily silted and scoured out sections. They should obey posted warning signs and the instructions of flag persons.
