The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists and pedestrians that it will introduce changes to traffic movement along Mountain View Avenue in Kingston for four weeks, from Monday, July 01, 2013 until Wednesday, July 31, 2013.

These changes to traffic movement are to facilitate concrete pavement works along the section of Mountain View Avenue between Jarrett Lane and Rifle Road.

Activities will be carried out in phases during the four week period, and traffic will be accommodated through the work zone as follows.

During the day, single lane alternating traffic will be allowed through the work zone from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day. One direction of traffic will then detour through Langston Road and Deanery Road between 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. the following day.

Phase I & II of this project is expected to be completed within fourteen (14) days.

  • Phase I begins on Monday July 01, 2013 and the south bound lane, that is the lane used by motorists travelling in the direction of Windward Road, will be closed between 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. the following day for seven days.
  • Phase II begins on Monday, July 08, 2013 and the north bound lane, which is the lane used by motorists travelling in the direction of Old Hope Road will be closed between 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. the following day for seven days.

When Phase II of the project is completed both lanes will be reopened to traffic, however motorist may experience minor delays as other concrete works and sidewalk repairs will be in progress.

The NWA is also advising motorists and pedestrians to proceed with caution along this section of the corridor during this period and obey all posted warning and directional signs and the instructions of flag persons.
