The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists that effective today, Tuesday September 3, 2013 minor delays should be expected in using the Queens Drive in Montego Bay, St. James. These delays will be experienced until September 8, 2013 between the hours of 9:00 pm and 6:00am.

Community Relations Officer for the NWA’s Western Region, Janel Ricketts, says that over the next six days local contractor, Surrey Paving and Aggregates Limited, will be effecting remedial works along sections of the corridor which was rehabilitated some two years ago under the Jamaica Development Infrastructure Programme (JDIP).

Ms. Ricketts says the contractor has now been tasked with effecting repairs to defects which have been identified along the corridor.

The Queens Drive project was substantially completed in 2011 at a cost of $142 million and involved the complete rehabilitation of the corridor and the construction of sidewalks. The project complements the rehabilitation of the Hip Strip in Montego Bay, which was also completed under the JDIP.

Motorists are being advised to obey the posted warning signs and instructions of flag persons.
