Multi-million Dollar Road Improvement Projects Underway in Eastern Westmoreland

The National Works Agency is announcing that three critical corridors in Eastern Westmoreland are currently being rehabilitated. These are the Retrieve to Marchmont corridor; the stretch of roadway between Seaford Town and Marchmont, and a section of the Bethel Town main road in Westmoreland.

Community Relations Officer for the NWA’s Western Region, Janel Ricketts, says that the projects are valued a cumulative cost of ten point five million dollars. Ms. Ricketts says the projects involves the cleaning of drains, bushing of embankments and the patching and local rehabilitation of approximately two thousand right hundred square metres (2800m2) of roadway.

Additionally, Ms. Ricketts adds that the projects involve the removal of a landslip along a section of the Marchmont main road and the construction of a retaining wall, also along the Marchmont corridor. While a gabion retaining wall is being constructed along a section of the Bethel Town main road.

Motorists are being advised to obey the posted warning signs and the instructions of flag persons.
