The National Works Agency is advising motorists that effective tomorrow, Wednesday March 5, the intersection of Molynes Road and Tarrant Drive will be controlled by electronic signals.

The intersection has been signalized as part of the NWA’s effort at managing the flow of traffic through critical junctions in the Corporate Area.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw says improper use of the Molynes Road/Tarrant Avenue intersection contributed to the significant traffic delays along Molynes Road during peak hours.

Mr. Shaw says other intersections have been identified for similar action. These include those at Hagley Park Road/Woodglen Avenue and Trinidad Terrace and Knutsford Boulevard. Signals have already been erected at these intersections and are to be commissioned into service shortly.

In the meantime, Mr. Shaw says the NWA is yet to receive any leads into the theft of the Control Box that facilitated the functioning of the lights at the intersection of Hagley Park Road and Mahoe Drive.

The box, which is valued at two hundred thousand dollars was stolen four weeks ago. The traffic lights at this intersection are still out of service.
