The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that effective Sunday June 8, 2014, minor delays may be experienced in traversing the Sandy Bay to Montpelier roadway in Eastern Hanover. These delays will be experienced periodically over the next two weeks.

The Sandy Bay to Montpelier roadway serves the community of Montpelier, which is located off a section of the North Coast Highway, between Montego Bay and Lucea.

Community Relations Officer for the NWA’s Western Region, Janel Ricketts, says that starting on Sunday, local contractor Dwight’s Construction will commence the asphalting of the three point seven kilometer (3.7 km) stretch of roadway.

Ms. Ricketts explains that the NWA is now in the final stages of completion of the rehabilitation of the corridor which involves significant drainage improvement, the construction of retaining walls and the resurfacing of the corridor.

This project is expected to be completed by the end of June 2014.

Motorists are being advised to obey the posted warning signals and instructions of flag persons
