Effective, Monday June 4, 2012, the National Works Agency (NWA) will be undertaking drainage improvement works along a section of the Elegant Corridor in Rose Hall St. James.

According to the NWA, the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) has contracted its services to construct a box culvert in the vicinity of the newly constructed Montego Bay Conference Centre in Rose Hall St. James.

The project is valued at approximately $12 million and involves the replacement of the smaller capacity box culvert which is now in use, with a larger one. This project is aimed at bolstering the drainage systems in the area, especially in light of the increased run-off which is expected following the construction of the Montego Bay Conference Centre.

Community Relations Officer, for the NWA’s Western Region, Janel Ricketts says that in order to ensure minimal disruption to the flow of traffic during the period of work, two lanes of traffic will remain open to the public at all times. Ms. Ricketts says that the contractor will commence work on the two northern lanes of the dual carriageway, before moving on to the two southern lanes.

This project is funded by the UDC and is being executed by local contractor, Seal Construction.

Motorists are being advised to obey the posted warning signs and instructions of flag persons.
