The National Works Agency (NWA) is announcing that plans are in high gear to rehabilitate sections of the Shettlewood to Chester Castle main road in Eastern Hanover. The corridor is part of the North-South link, providing access for road users in Southern parishes such as St. Elizabeth, to the city of Montego Bay, St. James.

Community Relations Officer for the NWA’s Western Region, Janel Ricketts, says that the Agency is currently in the final stages of the procurement process for this much needed road improvement contract.

Ms. Ricketts says that the project is expected to get underway in October. She added that the project involves the patching of sections of the roadway, the bushing of verges and cutting of overhanging trees, and the cleaning of drains.

The project will be executed over a four week period, through the Road Maintenance Fund’s Routine Maintenance Programme.
