The works will follow a Town Meeting called by the National Works Agency which will be held at the James Mountain Community Centre beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2014. The meetings purpose is to inform residents about the projects scope of works, duration and cost.

Works on this project include drainage improvement, widening critical sections of the roadway, local rehabilitation, patching and overlay of the entire section with Asphaltic Concrete.

The Santa Maria to Sligoville road rehabilitation project complements the Red Hills to Santa Maria road rehabilitation project completed last year March and the rehabilitation of the Sligoville to Bog Walk section of the main road which is in progress.

When this section of the corridor is completed, the route, Red Hills to Bog Walk will serve as one of the alternative routes to the Bog Walk Gorge that becomes flooded and impassible during flood events.

This road rehabilitation project will be funded by the Inter-American Development Bank and the Government of Jamaica for an amount of $171.2 million. The contractor is General Paving Company Limited.
