The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists that the newly constructed two-lane roadway, south-west of the new Dry River Bridge, will be opened to traffic travelling westerly, that is from the direction of Bull Bay, within the next two weeks. This is to address traffic delays being experienced at the Harbour View roundabout, in St. Andrew.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency, Stephen Shaw says that the reason motorists are experiencing delays is due to the major construction works at the Harbour View roundabout which is nearing completion.

He says that the improvements are being made to the approaches at the roundabout as well as reconstruction of the roundabout itself. Mr. Shaw says that when the final phase of improvements to the approaches from the direction of the Norman Manley Airport, Fort Nugent Drive and the Cement Company are complete, motorist will experience improved traffic flows through the roundabout during the morning and afternoon peak periods.

These road improvement works are scheduled to be completed by the end of July and forms part of the multi-million dollar Dry River Bridge construction project, funded by the Inter American Development Bank. This project is scheduled to be completed by October 2011.

The NWA is asking motorists experiencing delays at the roundabout by these road improvement works to exercise patience, obey posted warning signs and the instructions of flag persons.
