The NWA now in Final Stages of Completion of the Berkshire Road Improvement Project

The National Works Agency (NWA) is now in the final stages of completion of a major project to rehabilitate the Berkshire roadway in Eastern Westmoreland. This roadway is located along the Seaford Town to Pisgah corridor in Westmoreland.

Community Relations Officer at the NWA’s Western Region, Janel Ricketts says that the project targets approximately 4.4 km of roadway and involves the reshaping and asphalting of the roadway as well as extensive drainage improvement.

Ms. Ricketts says that the project is being executed under the Jamaica Development Infrastructure Programme (JDIP) at a cost of approximately $38 million. This project is expected to be completed within another seven weeks.

In the meantime, the NWA has completed the rehabilitation of the Ashton and Cedar Grove Parish Council Roads. The projects were completed at a cumulative cost of $16.4 million under the Jamaica Emergency Employment Programme (JEEP). The projects involved the complete rehabilitation of approximately 1.6 km of roadway.
