The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that beginning this Sunday, December 18, 2011, at 3:00 p.m., traffic changes will be implemented in Cross Roads, St. Andrew.

A major feature of the change will be the reversal of the one-way direction now in effect along Marescaux Crescent. As of Sunday motorists will be able to travel from Marescaux Road onto Marescaux Crescent then turn left by the Cross Roads Post Office onto Slipe Road or right onto Half Way Tree Road. Right turn from Marescaux Crescent onto Old Hope Road will not be allowed.

The NWA has reversed the Marescaux Crescent one-way direction in order to reduce traffic demand along Old Hope Road by providing direct access to Half Way Tree Road and Slipe Road via Marescaux Crescent. Overhead signals have also been installed to improve visibility by motorists and pedestrian safety features put in tom facilitate the easier movement of persons in the Cross Roads area.

In the meantime the rehabilitation of seven traffic signals in the Parade area of downtown Kingston is now complete. The new traffic signals will also be commissioned into service on Sunday, December 18, 2011.

The rehabilitation works included the removal of old traffic signal models and the installation of Mast-arms, replacing Junction Boxes and Conduits.

The intersections to be controlled by electronic signals are Orange Street and Beckford Street, West Queen Street and West Parade, Heywood Street and Orange Street, Upper King Street and North Parade, East Queen Street and East Parade and King Street and South Parade.
