The National Works Agency (NWA) is currently rehabilitating sections of the Kilmarnock Parish Council roadway in Eastern Westmorland. This roadway had deteriorated overtime creating an uncomfortable driving experience for road users.

Community Relations Officer for the NWA’s Western Region Janel Ricketts says the project involves patching and local rehabilitation of some sections of the roadway. A key component of the improvement effort is significant work on the drainage features along sections of the roadway.

To date, the NWA has completed the patching of sections of the corridor, and the construction of drains. Work continues with the formation of the base, in preparation for the application of Double Surface Dressing, which will be the final surface.

Ms. Ricketts says the project is being completed at a cost of approximately $7 million under the Jamaica Emergency Employment Programme (JEEP).

Motorists are being advised obey the posted warning signs and instructions of flag persons.
